Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

Although aimed primarily at the upper classes in Berlin and Vienna, German-Austrian magazine “Sport in Bild”, owned since 1909 by a Berlin press house August Scherl in what was known as the Zeitungsviertel (Newspaper District), is a wonderful source of information about life in both cities and in Europe at the time.

Austrian National Library kindly digitised and made available most of the weekly’s editions from 1897 until 1938. If you are interested in learning more about social history of Germany’s and Austrian capitals and their residents, this is a treasure trove you simple must open.

Here a link to the 1929 “Sport im Bild” editions.

Enjoy it!
