KREUZBERGED: BERLIN COMPANION

Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

NO TRAINS GO BUT YOU DO – A WALKING MAP OF BERLIN PUBLIC TRANSPORT NETWORK

Everybody knows and dreads the moment: the loudspeaker voice on your U-Bahn or S-Bahn platform makes the announcement, “Due to technical problems/medical intervention/wild ponies rambling freely on the tracks, train traffic on this line will be irregular/must be stopped completely.”

Fear not, however, for now – thanks to Kristin Baumann – you have this incredible map at your disposal: a walking map of Berlin public transport network with clearly indicated walking times for the distance between individual stations.

Before bleak autumn and then even bleaker winter descend upon this city, take Ms Baumann´s map as an inspiration to discover Berlin on foot. Turn your morning rage into something long-forgotten yet pleasurable: become a flaneur!

Given the relatively simple expectations (and differences) between U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations, I would find it fascinating to correlate the walking and drive times between stations. Thanks for pointing out Kristin Baumann’s map!
