KREUZBERGED BERLIN

Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

NOTES FROM THE SICKBED: TIME FOR A PODCAST

Being ill (after all, it´s November in Berlin) has one advantage – because you are hardly able to produce anything yourself and tend to slide off the chair at your desk as soon as you sit down, you have time to look at what others have been at and enjoy the fruit of their work.

This is how I found the next podcast from the elegantly curious Walrous & the Bear, this time about Berlin´s Teufelsberg. The old espionage hub of the US troops in West Berlin, constructed on top of 26,000,000 m³ of Berlin rubble left after WWII (or one-third of all “Hitler´s Collected Works”) – the hill took 22 years to pile up. It is a magnet not only for all urbex fans and film crews using it as their set but also for regular Berliners taking a walk around the hill or sledging there in winter.

The following podcast is a great way of getting to know the place before you go and explore it yourself. That is, if you haven´t done it yet.

Enjoy it!
