Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

MAN AT THE WALL – WATCH MICHAEL CAINE DURING THE FILMING OF “FUNERAL IN BERLIN”

Here is a fascinating account of the experience that filming his Berlin spy movie was for Michael Caine in 1966. It will take you from the strangely prosperous and carefree West Berlin main boulevard, Ku´damm, to the Berlin Wall at Checkpoint Charlie and even beyond that onto the East German side (albeit only for a couple of seconds – Caine was being filmed while really crossing the border between the two Berlins).
In the 2nd minute you will see Görlitzer Bahnhof – the subject of out previous post and today´s “birthday kid” (it opened on September 13, 1866), pretend, in fact, to be part of the alleged East Berlin architecture tristesse😉
This documentary is not only a story of film-making in Berlin. In a way, it is also very much a film about Berlin itself.
Enjoy it!

No wonder – it’s an excellent film, too.
