Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

Imagine you open a drawer or a suitcase somebody left you and find a treasure: dozens of wonderful black-and-white photos of a place which, upon the first glance, is impossible to recognise. Upon the second one, however, turns out to be your home.

I do not know whether Steffen Osterkamp´s nephew or niece (it is not clear who the person who published the images is apart form the fact that the late Osterkamp was their uncle) live in Kreuzberg or not. But even if they did, they would find it hard to locate the scenes captured by Steffen Osterkamp, too.

Kreuzberg of the 1970s and of today are two different places. These strangely touching images will tell you why.
