Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin
What do you do with a disused phone booth? In Berlin and Brandenburg, for instance, you can convert it into a shower booth, a storage room, a bijou office, a changing room for your favourite bathing spot at the lake, a library or a… quite spot for making phone calls at your big and busy office. (If we got you curious, read our post about Berlin phone booths to find out how to get one.)
Or, alternatively, you can turn it into a disco. A “Teledisko” to be exact. Benjamin Uphues, the owner of Teledisko GmbH, owns three such booths: two standing in Friedrichshain (one at the RAW-Gelände, a by now perhaps slightly shady but nevertheless immensely popular party site in Revaler Strasse and one at the “Kater Blau”, another well-loved club in Holzmarktsrasse) as well as one without fixed address, which can be rented for parties and other events.
A Teledisko has everything you need to swing your hips to the rhythm: lights, sound system and enough space for you and your dance-partner (or two, or three, depending on the amount of alcohol consumed as well as the size of the dancers). The fun will cost you 2 Euros per song of your choice. Or 4 Euros if you wish to have the moment captured on a photo and 6 Euros if it is a short video that you would rather have your souvenir.
Afterwards you can call your friends to tell them all about it. But, please, use your mobile.
