BERLIN BRUSHES: WALTER LEISTIKOW

Here is a wonderful summer painting by one of Berlin´s great artists, Walter Leistikow, “Abendstimmung am Schlachtensee” (“Evening at the Schlachtensee”).

Another personal favourite, looked at with particularly great fondness in bleak mid-winter as it literally smells of the summer lake and the dry tree-bark after a crackling-hot day. And, unlike in real life at the Schlachtensee, there is no-one to disturb that reverie;-)

Leistikow is one of my favorites. Check out his novel “Auf der Schwelle”.
