Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin
PLÖRRE – thin, watery coffee or soup:-)
“Families may brew their own coffee here” by Hans Baluschek, 1895
No no, it’s “Plörre” (even has an official entry in the Duden).
Thanks, guys! I´ve changed it already to “ö” as the majority of native speakers of Berlinerisch I asked about it voted for the “ö” version. I was uncertain about it myself but am lucky enough to have all of you as experts helping me out:-)
I actually only know the word “Plörre”.
Google says that Plürre exists as well, but I really never heard it. Did you?
No but, to be honest, neither did I hear “Plörre” being used in real life in Berlin. Still, it´s in the books that I am reading and the three Berlinerisch dictionaries I use for my research also record it so I am ploughing on:) Thanks for helping me out with the vocab and all.
