KREUZBERGED BERLIN

Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

THE OLD CITY PALACE OF BERLIN

Here is a 1920s aerial image of the Berliner Stadtschloss, the City (Royal) Palace, whose replica is being erected at almost exactly the same spot today.

However, not all of it is meant to be “resurrected”: the Eastern façade, along the river Spree and facing the former East Berlin centre at Alexanderplatz, will not be restored. It will be kept, in the words of the society overseeing the construction, modern and simple.
