Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin
Baerwaldbad in Baerwaldstrasse, Berlin-Kreuzberg.
Designed by the famous Berlin architect, Ludwig Hoffmann, it was built in 1901 to relieve the problem of poor personal hygiene among the residents of the area, caused by the lack of proper facilities within the fast growing community.
In 2010 Baerwaldbad was the winner of the Europa Nostra Award as the best example of successful preservation of the European cultural heritage.
Next to the Neues Museum it is one of the only two objects in Berlin and one of quite few in Germany ever to receive that honour.
