Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin
The street connecting Anhalter Strasse Askanischer Platz and Luckenwalder Strasse (next to Gleisdreieck) is given its official, “grown-up” name: Schöneberger Strasse.
The name was actually older than the street itself – already more than a century before it was known as the “Road to The Old Schöneberg” – Schöneberg being a small town outside Berlin at the time.
Probably the most famous residents of Schöneberger Strasse were two gentlemen who started a small company in a “Hinterhof” (backyard) of the house at No. 19. It was from here that Siemens and Halske began something that grew much bigger that the two could have ever expected.
