KREUZBERGED: BERLIN COMPANION

Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

AS TIME GOES BY – HISTORIC IMAGES OF KREUZBERG

Sometimes one photo says more than a hundred books. And although often it is impossible to “read” the image – to recognise what or whom it presents – without living witnesses or the said hundred books to tell the story behind them, there is nothing like the visual to act as a witness of time.

Here are some absolutely magnificent pictures of the old (but not so old as to be ancient) Berlin-Kreuzberg published recently by the local daily “Tagesspiegel” on their web page. Berlin Wall, old ironware shops, streets with freshly planted trees on them and, last but not least, the people who filled those streets – it is all here, behind this little link.

And big thanks to Keir for reminding me to share them on kreuzberged as well:-)
