KREUZBERGED: BERLIN COMPANION

Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

GHOSTS OF THE STATIONS PAST

A fascinating series of photos from the dead underground stations under Berlin – most of them were resurrected only after Berlin Wall disappeared. In the days of West and East Berlin they were banned and seen as a potential threat to the state´s security (by the DDR authorities).

Looking at them today – at Potsdamer Platz, Französicher Strasse, Weinmeisterstrasse or Nordbahnhof – it´s almost impossible to imagine them empty and forlorn.

From Spiegel Zeitgeschichten (text in German).
