YESTERDAY´S NEWSPAPER: BERLINER GERICHTS-ZEITUNG 12. JUNI 1890

Here is an original text about the opening of the new Berlin hospital, Krankenhaus Am Urban, published in Berliner Gerichts-Zeitung on June 12th, 1890.

WARNING! It´s in German AND it´s printed with one of those impossibly beautiful old German fonts:-) Have fun decoding!

Just to translate a few details of the text, it says: “The new town/city Hospital ‘Krankenhaus am Urban’ has received its first casualty at 9.00 in the morning, a lung suffering female servant. Further during the morning a number of men had reported to the hospital. Etc, etc, ……” My uncle, Prof. Dr. Med. Erich Simenauer, was a surgeon there until he was thrown out and arrested by the “Sturmabteil” (SA/Storm Troopers) on 1-4-33.

Hello Stewart! I have not forgotten about your Uncle and his story and am still very grateful for your writing to me about him. Even though it will still take some time, I am working on a text about him as well. We should definitely stay in touch:)
