BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: EXCHANGE PLACE BY BERENICE ABBOTT

Another example of turning a beast into a beauty using nothing else but “tricks with smoke and mirrors”.

New York is one of those overwhelming places where some streets seem to close on you as you walk along them and where over-dimensional buildings steal daylight, bringing dusk much too soon and much too quickly.

But if like the great photographer Berenice Abbott you look for the light yourself and make sure the camera sees it, too, here´s what the film is going to register:

A great picture ! It says so much about New York and we get a feeling how Berenice Abbott felt about it.
