KREUZBERGED BERLIN

Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

YOU ARE HERE: BELLE-ALLIANCE-PLATZ

Belle-Alliance-Platz or Rondell is today´s Mehringplatz. (you can read more about its history in another post here). The name of the old plaza built at the behest of King Friedrich Wilhelm I (The Soldier King) was changed after WW2. By then it was considered to be an inappropriate commemoration of old Prussian victories.

But then almost nothing is left of the old beauty of the place, either. Apart from some impressive sculptures, like the one presented below and well visible in the other, historic photo, this place is gone for good.
