Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin
Unlike a certain Berlin airport that might or might not be ready within the next decade, the western part of the Park Am Gleisdreieck is not only about to be opened for public but the opening is going to take place several months ahead of the schedule.
Here´s your chance to witness another Berlin historic moment: on Friday, May 31st at 2 PM in front of the new entrance to the park in Lützowstrasse you can join a group of the first official guest parks (the unofficial ones have been strolling and jogging through it even while the baggers and cranes were still at work there).
The next day, on June 1st pack your kids, your pets, your roller-skates or all of it at once and come to Gleisdreieckpark-West for a family picnic beginning at 11 AM and planned for the whole, hopefully sunny, afternoon.
You can choose between the new playgrounds (one artificially created and one natural), the beach-volleyball sand emporium, a Sonnendeck (wooden terraces for sitting and going horizontal in the sun) and plenty of space for walking, running and skateboarding. Or just sitting still and enjoying the view: the park and Potsdamer Platz skyline.
