KREUZBERGED: BERLIN COMPANION

Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

TRAINS GO – A SHORT FILM ABOUT STAMMSTRECKE

Here is a wonderful albeit very very short film found on the page of “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” presenting the original images of the so called Stammstrecke – the first, overground line – of Berlin´s U-Bahn, opened on February 15th, 1902.

On that day the state and city dignitaries took a ride on the first passenger train – the event which went down in history as Ministerfahrt.

To see, among others, are Gleisdreieck and Hallesches Tor stations. A gem!
