Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

TRAFFIC JAM AT HALLESCHE BRÜCKE IN 1931

Berlijn, voorrang 1931, a photo by janwillemsen on Flickr.

This photo has been found by accident. It was published in the REAL 1920s BERLIN Group on Flickr.com.

It presents a little driver in his mini vehicle stopping the traffic right behind Hallesche Brücke: it shows the crossing Tempelhofer Ufer/Waterloo Ufer/Belle-Alliance-Strasse (Mehringdamm today) with the U1 viaduct in the background and one of the two famous “Magistratklavier” (City Council Piano) houses, called so in a typical Berlin manner at the same time marking and mocking the shape of the buildings.

What a find!
