KREUZBERGED: BERLIN COMPANION

Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

MUSIC SOOTHES THE SOUL: THE SMASHING PUMPKINS “TONIGHT, TONIGHT”

It is not only a wonderful song that manages to combine the rough with the gentle in a striking way but the video for it is very special, too.

The inspiration for it was the 1902 film of a French film-maker, Georges Méliès. A Trip To The Moon is the very first known science-fiction movie ever made and the script for it was loosely based on Jules Verne´s and H.G. Wells´ novels. This little piece of cinematographic art opened to road to the stars for such giants of sci-fi cinema as Star Wars or 2001: A Space Odyssey.

To round the week off a bit of music and a little film (in a hand-coloured version). Enjoy!
