Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin
In a record shop window in Zossener Strasse there stands a box. This box is worth some (wait, I must wipe sweat breaking out on my forehead…) 600 Euros – an amount of money that makes me cough up my half-chewed Brötchen every time I pass the place on the way from the baker´s.
It is not designer bag or scarf or gorgeous-little-thing that the box holds inside. Oh, no! And it is not a pair of designer shoes nor a pink chihuahua. It´s not a fancy gadget either. Those are LPs that sit inside.
It´s a box containing the full discography of The Smiths and the object of my darkest desire that almost made me consider breaking that window one late evening in summer (but do blame this asbo-fantasy on the heat and the ample beverages).
Anyway, my longing for the Box will never be satisfied but at least I have found a fitting music background for my endless sorrow. It is by – who else? – The Smiths.
