KREUZBERGED BERLIN

Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin

TODAY IN KREUZBERG: SEPTEMBER 3 – MARHEINEKE MARTKHALLE RE-OPENS AFTER WW2

1953

Marheineke Markthalle, the place where prices might be indecent and which was literally murdered and gutted during the renovation somewhere around 2007, but where where sooner or later everybody meets on Saturday (even if they like myself still mourn the old place and cannot stand the mingling crowd), is re-opened after the war as the very first city market hall.

And here´s a little gem found on YouTube: a short video film posted by Kklandy Clover and made literally hours before the market hall was closed down for renovation. As you´d be able to see and to hear (your German permitting), people were not happy about what was coming. In a way they were damn right.
