SPOTTED IN PASSING: THE TREE ATTACK

Chestnut tree breakdown

Kottbusser Damm/Hohenstaufenplatz today at 12.04 PM. My son and I had just left the Moviemento cinema (The Little Nick – a brilliant film for both five-year-olds and for quatrogenerians). Suddenly we heard fireworks crackling. Only those were no pyrotechnics: a chestnut tree on the square right next to Kottbusser Damm and the pavement went into the state of disintegration and lost a massive bough. The fact that at that particular moment no-one was passing this otherwise regularly crowded spot or, God forbid, should have been using the telephone booth which ended up as support to the broken-off bough, shall go down in history as the Friday Kotti Miracle. A bit of drama instead of lunch.
