Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin And Kreuzberg

SPOTTED IN PASSING: GREETINGS FROM THE NEW MEMBER OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, CROATIA:-)

image

Kreuzberg, as much as we love and cherish its sometimes rather undefined but always captivating beauty, is not the only place that makes the author of this blog happy. Since every love is like a lift – it goes up, it goes down and now and then it gets stuck between floors, it is advisable to take a little break from the object of your affection.

A short summer stay in Croatian Riviera can do wonders to one’s passion. Especially if you think about coming home again: old routes become new and exciting, old places surprising and even the low throbbing of the motorcycle races in Gneisenaustraase late on Friday night sounds like nightingales.

What a great state of mind this is: happy to be here and happy to return. I wish it to us all:-)

Sunny greetings from Lovran!

You are so right. A little. change is important for a balanced perspective. Beauty is everywhere. Ugliness, too, is everywhere but we are not searching for it. What you call heaven now could turn out hellish if you make it your permanent residence.

You mention ‘Croatian Riviera’ and ‘Gneisenaustrasse’ in one paragraph as if there is a connection. And there is. It is the humanity that combines the too. I’m thankful for the EU. It is a construct of reason and for reason to prevail. Tree lined Gneienaustrasse is a totally man made environment beginning with its historical based name and spanning to the ‘ Festival der Kulturen’. It would be good if membership to the EU would lead to a lessening of the hatred they feel for their neighbour Serbia.

Gneisenaustrasse brings with it memories of a short life of a beautiful little girl. But this is like real life. There is only a thin line between heaven and hell and it is us humans who are responsible when we cross the line.

Enjoy you stay in your Croation heaven before you return to your piece of heaven in Kreuzberg. Have a save trip home.
