Everything You Never Knew You Wanted to Know About Berlin And Kreuzberg

MUSIC SOOTHES THE SOUL: GEORGIE FAME

This is one of my absolute Number 1 songs – I have spent a long while looking for a video which I could present it along with it in this blog and failed. There is simply no way of overriding the all-encompassing ban put by GEMA on some music otherwise available on YouTube.

Therefore I decided to upload my very first MP3 file and see how it goes.

Georgie Fame – whose name might not come through as familiar (pun intended:) – was a pretty well known singer in his time. But to be honest, as far as I´m concerned this song here could have been his one and only musical effort and I would still hold him for brilliant. I believe the lyrics are as important as the sound – you will find them below.

I hope you like it.

06 – Peaceful

In the morning fun when no one
Will be drinking any more wine
I’ll wake the sun up by givin’ him
A fresh share full of the wind cup
And I won’t be found in the shadows hiding sorrow
And I can wait for fate to bring to me
Any part of my tomorrow, tomorrow

Cause it’s oh, so peaceful here
There´s no-one bendin’ over my shoulder
Nobody breathin´ in my ear
Oh, so peaceful here

In the evening shadows are callin’ me
And the dew settles in my mind
And I think of friends in the yesterday
When my plans were giggled in rhyme
I had a son while on the run
And his love brought a tear to my eye
And maybe some day he’ll up and say
That I´m a pretty nice guy
Oh my, oh my

And it’s oh, so peaceful here
There´s no-one bendin’ over my shoulder
Nobody breathing in my ear
Oh, so peaceful here
